#FIBDIBV2023

Theme: COUNTERFACTUAL HISTORY

WHAT IF… ?

In counterfactual history, the artist analyzes and then deviates the course of history, followed by the question “What if it happened differently?” He takes the liberty to erase or rewrite the far-reaching historical event by interfering with the causes and/or imagining consequences and outcomes different from historical reality. The main purpose of such an exercise is to explore the historical importance of an event or a person! Therefore, let’s imagine in comics how much a “subject” can change the course of history.

Potentially more spectacular than non-fiction and historical fiction, but not as playful as alternative history, counterfactual history in comics can offer sharp, spectacular, poignant, and original insights into history. And we don’t just have to think about great history, wars, assassinations or geographical discoveries! The subjects of counterfactual history can also be chosen from histories for which we ourselves wanted a different ending!
