On 31 July 2020, the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA) in Brussels announced the results of the projects selection for the Strengthening of Cultural Cooperation and Competitiveness of Cultural and Creative Industries in the Western Balkans call (EACEA 39/2019), part of the Creative Europe funding.
We are pleased to inform you that our “CAN for BALKANS – Comics Alliance Networking for Balkans” project has been declared a winner!
We mention the fact that at European level, 13 projects out of 315 eligible projects have been selected for funding!
The Brasov County Museum of History is the only project leader in Romania selected within the European Commission. Then, Romania is not represented in other winning projects even at the partner level.
The leaders of the other winning projects come from the Netherlands, Italy, France, Bulgaria and the Western Balkans.
The call for cultural cooperation projects in the Western Balkans was a special action launched by the European Commission in 2019, with a deadline of 28 April 2020. It is fully funded by the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II), but will be implemented in accordance with the rules applicable to the Creative Europe Program.
The “CAN for BALKANS – Comics Alliance Networking for Balkans” project received an EU grant of 254,705 euros (85% of the total project budget). The partners of the project leader, Brasov County Museum of History, are the National Historical Museum of Albania, Comics Art Museum Bruxelles – Belgian Comic Strip Center, Strip Centar na Makedonija (North Macedonia), the Leskovac Cultural Centre – Leskovac comic school “Nikola Mitrovic Kokan” (Serbia).
